Wedgie-picking should NOT be part of your WOD, but going commando has always been a risky endeavor.
At the gym, running trail, box, or mat, the only discomfort you want is the feeling of pushing your body to its limits. But unfortunately, a lot of women’s workout clothes aren’t designed to be as practical or comfortable as our workouts demand. Wedgie-picking should NOT be part of your WOD, but going commando has always been a risky endeavor. Most flimsy leggings barely manage to conceal the color of your underwear, and they certainly aren’t up to the challenge of double unders.
That’s why we set out to create a new kind of yoga pants, made of a more substantial fabric and lined with our patent-pending Underlux fabric that protects even better than regular underwear.
Meeting Women’s Needs
At Dear Kate, we spend a lot of time thinking about how clothing can be engineered to better meet women’s needs. Julie Sygiel founded the startup while still in college to address the demands placed on women’s underwear that were ill served by traditional styles and materials. Using her chemical engineering background, she spent two years developing Underlux, a patent-pending blend of fabrics that is wicking, stain-releasing, machine washable, breathable, and can hold up to three teaspoons of liquid without leaking.
[W]e knew we could take the technology we use to make workout-friendly underwear and transform the yoga pant.
After a few too many times at the gym seeing people’s underwear choices through their leggings, worrying about sweat stains and leaks, and feeling our pants pill, stretch out, and fall down or ride up, we decided to take matters into our own hands. As a startup known for high performance women’s underwear, we knew we could take the technology we use to make workout-friendly underwear and transform the yoga pant. When we asked our customers what new products they wanted to see from us, yoga pants were the overwhelming choice.
