So what is core strength?

The first are the legendary crunches. Most people will tell you that this exercise is not so effective. The matter of fact is that it is effective at doing what it is supposed to do. Crunches will not help you lose weight or get insanely fitter but they will help you reduce your waist and develop stronger core muscles. A study proved that crunches can make you lose up to two inches in six weeks without any changes in diet. Not only did the participants lose weight but they gained improved core strength.
How do you do crunches? It is quite simple. Lie on your back, knees bent and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart. Place your hands on your thighs, across your chest or behind your ears. Slowly curl up towards your knees until your shoulders are about three inches off the floor. Hold the position for a few seconds and lower down slowly. If you are new to exercise start off with 3 sets of 8 to 10 repetitions.
The plank is an excellent exercise that targets not just the waist but your whole body. Planks will lead to a stronger core, and strengthen your back muscles reducing your chances of developing lower back pain. And as expected it will help you trim your waist.
So how do you do a plank? It is quite simple. Get into a press-up position, bend your elbows in a way where your body forms a straight line and rest your body weight on your forearms. Suck your belly inside and stay in the same position for a minute.
As far is the waist reduction is concerned you can ramp up workout effectiveness by pairing your workouts with a waist training corset.
