[T]he 6-8 week period is right where we start to see the results of our work both from a performance-based and aesthetic perspective.
Most trainers have heard it before: “I’m getting stronger, but I don’t see any muscle definition.” This phrase or something like it generally comes from new clients/athletes about 6-8 weeks into their training. Most trainers and coaches will simply encourage their athletes/clients to “stick with it.” This is great advice, but without any face value, some folks can get discouraged and eventually stop at about this time or will jump from program to program (we call these people “program hoppers
”). This is unfortunate because with consistent resistance training 2-3 times per week (for beginners and intermediates), the 6-8 week period is right where we start to see the results of our work both from a performance-based and aesthetic perspective. Here is a slightly deeper look into why we need to just “stick with it.”
