GET TO KNOW JEFF
What was your athletic background prior to CrossFit?
I am a former Division 1 college soccer player.
How did you hear about CrossFit? What convinced you to join, and why have you stayed?
Friends in college introduced me to CrossFit, and I stayed because I needed something competitive in my life after soccer ended. CrossFit filled that void.
How do you manage the mental and physical demands of CrossFit training?
I just refer back to my background in soccer. It taught me mental strength, which I would say is my best athletic attribute.
What do you love about the people and/or place where you train?
I love the sense of community and the friendly competition that is present every workout.
What do you do in your everyday life? How has CrossFit impacted that role (or roles)?
I work as a personal trainer. CrossFit has given me a better knowledge base for training my clients and myself as well. It really has changed my whole outlook on fitness.
Looking back, what 2-3 things did you wish you knew when you started CrossFit?
I wish I had more patience and natural gaming instincts. There is a lot of strategy involved in CrossFit workouts; I think this is the key to getting better.
What is your most memorable CrossFit moment? What is your most embarrassing moment?
The most memorable moment was when I competed in the 2011 NorCal Regionals! Most embarrassing was being the last to complete a 1-minute L-sit at the NorCal Recovery Throwdown 2012.
